2015 Annual Conference

Representing the Flagstaff Chapter, Cheryl Heitz and Kelly Robertson, both long-time AFWA members, attended the 2015 Annual Conference. Below are some highlights from their trip to Pittsburgh.

"I attended a how to grow your chapter membership session. What is so interesting is seeing different chapters and how they are successful." - Cheryl Heitz, AFWA Member

During their visit, they toured the city of Pittsburgh known as both "the Steel City" and "the City of Bridges" and famous for Heinz Tomato Ketchup. Heinz was founded in Sharpsburg (a suburb of Pittsburgh) in 1869 by entrepreneur Henry John Heinz. While visiting the Heinz History Center they learned that Mr. Heinz developed and patented the Heinz ketchup bottle to get the maximum pour. In the early days, he had his own glass factory that produced the glass ketchup bottles. At the conference, they enjoyed the balloon exercise as well as seeing old friends and participating in informative sessions. Proposed National Bylaws amendments were reviewed and discussed at the conference. Conference attendees were asked to relay the information to their local chapter and place their votes.
